Danish Victoria Kjaer was crowned Miss Universe 2024 this Saturday in a majestic gala held at the Mexico City Arena, marking the closing of the 73rd edition of the most prestigious beauty pageant in the world.

Kjaer, who won over the jury with her charisma, intelligence and communication skills, won the coveted crown ‘The Light of Infinity’, a jewel plated in 18 carat gold, adorned with diamonds and 23 golden pearls.

Nicaraguan Sheynnis Palacios, Miss Universe 2023, was in charge of placing the crown on the head of her successor.

The Danish woman beat a competitive group of almost 130 candidates who, after passing several elimination rounds, were reduced first to 30, then to 12 and, finally, to five.

Among the last five finalists were María Fernanda Beltrán, representative of Mexico, being the host country; Ileana Márquez, from Venezuela; Opal Suchata, from Thailand; and Adetshina Chidimma, from Nigeria.

On the big night, 30 contestants will compete in the swimsuit round, with only 18 advancing. These semifinalists will move on to the evening gown parade, where another seven will be eliminated. The five finalists will then face a decisive question session to determine the winner.
