Sheynnis Palacios Cornejo, a 27-year-old model and community developer from Nicaragua, is the new Miss Universe 2023.
She was crowned at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador on November 18, 2023. She succeeds R’Bonney Gabriel of the United States, who was crowned Miss Universe 2022.
Palacios is the first Nicaraguan woman to win the Miss Universe title. She is a graduate of the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua, where she studied marketing. Making headlines worldwide, the Miss Universe organization announced BIG change to the requirements in 2023 -- allowing “women who are married, or who have been married, as well as women who are pregnant, or have children” to enter the Miss Universe competition in 2023.
