Playing against the heat of Barranquilla, this Thursday for Matchday 3 of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. James Rodríguez opened the score at 36′, but Marcelo Bielsa’s team even the odds at the beginning of the second half (47′) with a goal by Mathías Olivera.

That score didn’t last much because Matheus Uribe (52′) was responsible for giving the partial win to Colombia. Near the end of the match (90+1′) in Estadio Metropolitano de Fútbol Roberto Meléndez, ‘La Celeste’ tied the score thanks to Darwin Núñez by a goal via penalty kick.

With this result, Uruguay prevented their second consecutive loss in the road to the 2026 World Cup and is placed fourth in the current standings. Meanwhile, Colombia is in the third place before Brazil and Argentina play today their matches against Venezuela and Paraguay, respectively.
