Finally, Miss USA 2023 will meet its new titleholder who will compete at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador. Last year, R’Bonney Gabriel managed to win Miss Universe just a few weeks after being crowned Miss USA, so the pressure is on for this year’s delegates. Miss USA 2023: People’s Choice

Fans can vote for their favorite contestant in the Miss USA 2023 People’s Choice contest online. The winner will be guaranteed a spot in the pageant semifinals! Voting costs $2 per vote, and the winner will be announced during the announcement of the semifinalists and recognized during the applause portion near the end of the pageant.

Miss USA Qualifications

• For the Miss USA 2023 competition and the State preliminary competitions, women who are or have been married, as well as ladies who are pregnant or have children, will be able to compete.
• For the 2023, the contestants must have been born between the years 1995-2004. For next year’s pageant contest, they must be born between the years 1996-2005.
• The candidate should be a resident of the United States and will remain a resident of the United States through the State Pageant and, if she wins the State Contest, through the National Contest.
• The candidate must represent and warrant that is a female (recognized medically and legally as a female in the United States).
• The candidate must live in the state that represents permanently and have lived there for at least three (3) months prior to the contest date – OR – must be a full-time student in said state and have previously completed a full semester or session by December 31 – OR – should work full time in that state.

How do they choose the winner of the Miss USA?

Contestants must be at least 18 years old and, with the current changes in rules, even married women are able to participate in the competition. Each contestant from all 50 states and the District of Columbia is judged in 3 categories: swimsuit, evening gown, and interview. Equally relevant evaluation criteria integrate character, poise, confidence and personality.

Is Miss United States the same as Miss USA?

Miss USA and Miss America are all different competitions. Miss USA is a platform for Miss Universe because its winner goes on to compete in one of the Big Four international beauty pageants and Miss America is a scholarship program as well as a pageant that doesn’t have a swimsuit competition but it does include a talent competition.

Fun facts about Miss USA

• The Miss USA pageant was conceived in 1950 after Yolande Betbeze, winner of the competing Miss America pageant, refused to pose for publicity photographs while she was wearing a swimsuit.

• The first Asian-American lady to win Miss USA was Macel Wilson in 1962; The first Hispanic was Laura Martínez-Herring in 1985; the first African American was Carole Gist in 1990; and the first Miss USA of Middle Eastern descent was Rima Fakih in 2010.

• Hollywood actress Halle Berry has been introduced to the world as Miss Ohio, who was the first runner-up in the Miss USA pageant in 1986 (Miss Texas, Christy Fichtner, was crowned that year).
